GE Neuro, the virtual reality (VR) experience which has been developed by Los Angeles, California based studio Kite & Lightning in collaboration with General Electric (GE), is available to download for free from Oculus Share, for the Oculus Rift DK2.
GE Neuro begins as you stand face-to-face with a young musician, Reuben Wu from Ladytron, frozen in time and ready for your experimentation. Based in a very atypical young professional’s apartment, a holographic AI head explains the current situation and invites you inside Wu’s mind. You are soon shrunk to a tiny scale and begin to move inwards, directly through a portal that opens upon Wu’s forehead. Wu composed an original score for the experience and it’s his actual brain via a volumetric MRI scan that you will see inside. The experience gives a peek into how scientists are breaking new ground to understand how the brain works through advanced imaging technology.
The Kite & Lightning experience will work on both the Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2 versions, but the Oculus 0.6.0.1 runtime must be installed, and the recommended minimum system requirements are: Intel i7, 8 GB Ram, 780 TI graphics.
